And, while there is a sense of relief and hope, caution is still the focus for many.

Jack Morris, from the Three Tuns, in High Street, admitted it was a relief to have people back inside.

But he said it is still a case of taking things a day at a time.

"To have people back in, to welcome them back, has been great," he said.

"But, in all honesty, we are still dipping our toes in the water.

"The challenges still lie ahead of us. The biggest concern is still the June date for lifting of more restrictions.

" I have a horrible suspicion that might be pushed back but we can only aim for what we are trying to achieve.

"We are only a few days in and every day is another step on the board, we are just trying to figure out what works and what doesn't."

Mr Morris said he is striving to give returning customers a sense of normality, where possible.

And, as a result, he has changed some of the things the pub does, this time around.

"When we were last allowed to open, it was all bookings but we want to get a sense of normality back.

"People, generally speaking, when they go to the pub, they just want to walk in and have a few beers.

"So now we are taking bookings for one half of the pub and then just allowing the other half to be on a first-come, first-serve basis.

"The ultimate goal is to get as close to normal as possible.

"But realistically, we know we can't hold live music until all the restrictions are lifted.

"That's frustrating but we just have to sit tight until they allow us the ability to crack on as normal."
