Former pub worker died after contracting Covid-19

A retired pub worker died after contracting coronavirus, an inquest heard.

Jeanette Phillips, aged 88, a resident at Anson Court care home, in Walsall, died on April 30 after she tested positive for Covid-19.

She developed a cough and a high temperature before her condition became worse.

Doctors gave her primary cause of death as dementia while Covid-19 was a contributing factor.

Mrs Binsley was born in Walsall on November 1, 1931. She was a widow.

Senior coroner Zafar Siddique said: "She had a medical history of dementia.

"Over the last few weeks she was developing a cough.

"Her condition deteriorated, she had a high temperature and she was suspected of having Covid-19.

"A test was done and it proved positive. She passed away on April 30."

Mr Siddique concluded that she died from natural causes.
