Boy flung from van in Walsall crash

A boy was flung from a van as it collided with another car and rolled on to its roof on a 30mph road.

The youngster suffered cuts and was said to be in a confused state following the incident on Broad Lane, Shelfield at around 9pm on Saturday.

While a man sustained multiple injuries and had to be cut free from the van which had collided with a parked red car.

West Midlands Fire Service confirmed their injuries were not life-threatening.

The doors of the van were visibly crumpled while glass and debris showered the road.

The car was also badly damaged sustaining a large dent to the rear driver's side corner while the boot door had come away from the body of the vehicle.

Two fire crews, one from Bloxwich station and another from Aldridge Station, attended.

A fire spokeswoman said: "We were called to an incident at around 8.55pm at Broad Lane, Shelfield where a van had been in collision with a stationary vehicle.

"One man was trapped and had to be extricated from the van. He suffered multiple injuries.

"One boy was ejected from the van suffering cuts and confusion. "

Crews came away at 10pm.
