Man charged following abduction incident

A man has been charged with child abduction and assault after a boy was allegedly taken into a property in Birmingham.

Kamlesh Chauhan was charged after being arrested following the incident at Nailers Close in Bartley Green at around 5pm on Tuesday, May 25.

It is alleged that the boy was approached by a man and taken into the property and was in the house for a short period of time before managing to escape.

The 54-year-old Chauhan, of Nailors Close, Birmingham, appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Thursday, May 27 and was remanded into custody until the next hearing on June 10.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We have charged a 54-year-old man with child abduction and assault after a boy was allegedly taken into a property in Bartley Green on Tuesday.

"Kamlesh Chauhan, of Nailors Close, Birmingham, appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court today (Thursday) and was remanded in custody until the next hearing on 10 June."

The force has urged anyone who witnessed the incident or has any further information or dashcam or CCTV footage, to contact them, quoting crime reference number 20/258993/21.
