Prosecutor Peter Grieves-Smith has alleged that victim Bill Davis was battered to death on April 1 by the 36-year-old mother who lived opposite him in Hobley Street, Willenhall.

A handwritten letter dated April 1 giving details of Frazier-Doody's struggle with drugs was found in a drawer in her house after the murder, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told yesterday.

It was read to the jury but they were not given any information about the intended recipient.

The letter read: "I have been lying to you, myself and my family for too long. I really need professional help before it is too late. Mentally and physically I am in big trouble.

"I am totally mind blown. I have come so very close to doing something terrible. My life is spiralling out of control. I can't think how to get this drug addiction to stop.

"I am in a mess and would rather be dead than go through this any longer. I am begging you: Will you send me into rehab as soon as possible? Please, please, please."

Traces of blood found in the sink at Mr Davis's contained a mix of his DNA and that of Frazier-Doody, the court heard. It was also said the chances of the DNA belonging to anybody else were one billion to one. Frazier-Doody denies murder and the trial continues.
