Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence is used to seeing her face on the big screen, billboards, and on the front of magazines.

But the 24-year-old did a double take when she saw the life-size cake of herself that has hit headlines across the world.

The Oscar winning actress praised Lara Clarke from Brownhills who won gold with the 5ft 11ins look-alike bake at the Cake International show at the NEC in Birmingham over the weekend.

Appearing on BBC Radio 1 with her Hunger Games co-stars, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson, Miss Lawrence was handed a photo of her cake-likeness by host Nick Grimshaw.

Lara Clarke's amazing cake of Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss.

"First of all I want to talk to you about this, Jennifer," said Mr Grimshaw. "I didn't bring you this cake because it's really, really creepy, but I want to know if you've seen this cake."

The actress, who play Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games films, said:

"Oh my god, yeah, I saw it. I saw it. It's 5'11. But seriously if the girl who made that is listening: You're incredibly talented."

Hemsworth, who plays Gale Hawthorne, added: "Good work to the person who did that."

Before Mr Hutcherson, who plays Peeta Mellark, joked: "Your waist is smaller."

Lara, 28, quickly posted on Facebook: "Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson just called me amazing on Radio1... Me?"

"I am absolutely gob smacked... Like... I have tears. This is awesome."

Then, snipping the bite of audio in which Lawrence calls her 'incredibly talented,' Miss Clarke added: "I'm so setting this bad boy as my ringtone!! Awesome comments from THE Jennifer Lawrence."

Unfortunately the life-size cake did not survive for long – ending up in pieces in the back of the van returned from the show.

Since unveiling her cake, Lara has been on TV in five continents with her story spanning across the globe.

"It was really weird, I thought she might see the cake but never that she would comment on it," she said.

"It is absolutely everywhere and I think it is even crazier than last year when I did Johnny Depp because he did not have a movie coming out. I think because the latest Hunger Games film is out she is everywhere.

"There has been a lot of media coming forward and I've just had to ride it out.

"I have done a few live media interviews and got a phone call from Good Morning America and it is awesome.

"It is so weird but so cool."

Lara also created a cake of Tyrion, a character in the hit TV series Game of Thrones.

No accident – 'Cakeniss' Everdeen is broken up after the contest.

She entered them both into Cake International in Birmingham which took place over the weekend. She struck gold with Katniss and silver with Tyrion.

"I was very pleased with gold and silver," she said.

"It's the biggest cake competition in the world so to get both was really good.

"I got gold last year so it was great to carry on that achievement with another one."

Miss Clarke spent three months creating her edible entries for the prestigious show.

Last year she picked up a gold medal for her Jack Sparrow cake, a 5ft 5in edible lookalike that took 90 hours to make.

This time round the 28-year-old decided to make two cakes in different sizes to properly show off her talents.

The combined effort took 150 eggs, 10kg each of flour, butter and sugar, 2kg of natural yoghurt, 5kg of chocolate ganache, 10kg of modelling chocolate and between 50 and 100kg of icing.
