Wolverhampton health tech company wins major UK digital healthcare award
The Flame Lily Healthcare was recognised at the awards which celebrate excellence in digital healthcare and life sciences
A Wolverhampton-based healthcare leader has been recognised for innovation in improving access to healthcare after winning a regional award.
Fungai Ndemera, managing director of The Flame Lily Healthcare and founder of digital platform CheckUp Health, received the Advances in Digital Healthcare award at the Medilink Midlands Business Awards 2026.
The award recognises organisations developing solutions to improve patient outcomes and support healthcare systems.

The recognition reflects the work being delivered across both organisations, combining frontline healthcare experience with digital innovation.
Through The Flame Lily Healthcare, Ms Ndemera has been delivering community-based care services, while CheckUp Health focuses on developing an AI-powered digital GP platform designed to improve access to primary care, particularly for underserved communities.
Speaking after collecting the award, she said: “The Medilink Midlands awards celebrate innovation across the life sciences and healthcare sector, with winners progressing to the national Medilink UK Awards later this year.”
Ms Ndemera said the focus remains on scaling solutions that improve access to care and support NHS services through both direct care provision and technology-enabled innovation.
