Wolverhampton charity calls for support to tackle period poverty
Charity hopes to raise vital funds and awareness of period poverty
A Wolverhampton charity supporting people experiencing period poverty is calling on the local community to get behind its annual Summer Fundraiser this September.

Periods Matter will bring supporters together at South Staffordshire Golf Club on Friday, September 11, to raise vital funds to provide free period products to people who may otherwise struggle to afford them.
The charity supports individuals and families across the local community and, during 2025/26 alone, supported around 1,000 people and distributed approximately 3,000 packs of period products.
Periods Matter also works to raise awareness and tackle the stigma surrounding periods, delivering education and workshops alongside its practical support.
Dr Clare Roberts-Molloy, Founder and CEO of Periods Matter, said: “Period poverty can be largely invisible. We don't necessarily know when somebody is going without period products or having to make difficult choices about what they can afford.
“For someone already struggling with the cost of food, energy and other essentials, having to find money for period products every month creates yet another pressure.
“Periods don't stop because money is tight, and nobody should have to miss school, work or everyday activities because they cannot access the products they need.
“That is why the support we receive from people and businesses across Wolverhampton and the Black Country makes such a difference.”

Periods Matter is hoping its September fundraiser will not only generate much-needed income but also encourage more conversations about period poverty and menstrual dignity.
The evening will include a buffet, entertainment and a raffle, with all funds raised helping the charity continue its work.
Clare added: “We wanted to create an evening that people will genuinely enjoy, while also reminding people why this work is needed.
“Every ticket bought, raffle prize donated and business that supports us helps us put more period products into the hands of people who need them.
“We're a small local organisation, but we're determined to make a tangible difference. We'd love the people of Wolverhampton and the surrounding areas to come along, have a great evening and help us keep making periods matter.”
The Periods Matter Summer Fundraiser takes place on Friday, September 11, at South Staffordshire Golf Club in Tettenhall, starting at 6.30pm for 7pm.
Tickets cost £35, including a buffet, tea and coffee and entertainment.
Businesses and individuals are also invited to support the event through raffle-prize donations and other contributions.
Tickets are available from the Periods Matter website.
