The event brought together different generations to enjoy games and share memories, with Scrabble also proving popular.

Resident Josie Slym said: “Scrabble keeps your brain in action and is good fun even if it gets a bit competitive!”

Fellow resident Elvina Brock said she had fond memories of playing board games with her brother and family when she was younger.

“My brother and I always played board games together and especially enjoyed new ones at Christmas, even our mother used to join in,” she said.

“We always have fun when the young people come to play games and they are wonderful company.”

The event was part of Care UK’s nationwide ‘Bored Games’ initiative, which aims to encourage people to reconnect through traditional games and community activities.

Zoe Smart, home manager at Foxland Grange, said: “It was fantastic to see everyone getting involved and enjoying some friendly competition.

“For many residents, traditional games nights represent a lifetime of treasured memories, so this was a great opportunity to revisit those moments while creating new memories with the local community.”
