Vibrant Rum and Reggae Race Day brings culture and community together at Wolverhampton Racecourse
‘A true reflection of what we can achieve when community, culture and purpose align.’
Wolverhampton Racecourse at Dunstall Park has recently played host to a vibrant and impactful Rum and Reggae Race Day, bringing together community members, local leaders, businesses, and supporters for a day of celebration, culture and meaningful fundraising.

The event, promoted by Wolverhampton Racecourse in support of The African Caribbean Community Initiative (ACCI), showcased the power of unity and cultural pride.
Attendees enjoyed a lively programme of activities, including horse racing, a private three-course meal, a silent auction, sponsored races, and live entertainment, all contributing to a memorable and purposeful occasion.
Jaqueline Penman, spokesperson for Wolverhampton Racecourse, said: "We were proud to host such a vibrant and inclusive event that brought together communities, businesses and partners in a truly meaningful way. It was fantastic to see the racecourse come alive with such positive energy while supporting an important cause."
Distinguished guests included former Mayor, Councillor Craig Collingswood, who said: "Events like this not only bring people together but also make a real meaningful difference, and I feel privileged to have been part of it.’”
Alicia Spence, CEO of The African Caribbean Community Initiative, added: “This event is a true reflection of what we can achieve when community, culture and purpose align. We are incredibly proud to see such strong support for our work, and the funds raised will directly help us continue transforming lives and creating opportunities across our communities."
Fundraising efforts throughout the day were highly successful. Collection buckets alone raised a total of £692.74, with no deductions for expenses or payments. In total, the event generated in excess of £8,000 for ACCI, thanks to the combined success of the auction, dining experience, sponsorships, and race activities.
The event highlighted the strength of partnership and collaboration, with contributions from GRP Solutions Ltd, Midlands Pro DJs, Wolverhampton Racecourse, Adassa Catering, and a dedicated team of volunteers whose efforts ensured the smooth running of the day.
This inaugural Rum and Reggae Race Day stands as a testament to what can be achieved when community, culture, and purpose come together, setting a strong foundation for future events aimed at uplifting and supporting communities across the region.
