Rugeley Lions raise £341 for Macmillan Cancer Support
The Rugeley Lions event at Rose Theatre featured homemade cakes, refreshments and a tombola
Rugeley & District Lions Club has raised £341 for Macmillan Cancer Support at a special coffee and cake event held at Rugeley Rose Theatre.

The event, held at the recently refurbished theatre, attracted a steady stream of visitors who enjoyed homemade cakes, refreshments and a popular tombola.

The Lions were also delighted to welcome Mrs Liz Barnes, Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire, who paid a surprise visit and joined Lions Club President Debra Coburn for coffee and homemade cake.
The event was particularly special for Lion Jane Stevenson, who baked the wonderful selection of cakes. Jane is celebrating an incredible 10 years of organising Macmillan Coffee Mornings, combining her love of baking with her passion for fundraising and helping others.

Members of Rugeley Town Council also supported the event, while the tombola proved popular with visitors thanks to a fantastic selection of prizes donated by Tesco and other local stores.
Tesco also generously donated tea, coffee and small cakes for the occasion.
Lions members Debra Coburn, Elaine, Jane, Mandy and Pauline were on hand throughout the event to welcome visitors, serve refreshments and run the fundraising activities.

Club President Debra Coburn said “This was a lovely event at the refurbished Rose Theatre to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. Thank you to everyone who visited and supported us.”
The £341 raised will help Macmillan continue its vital work supporting people living with cancer and their families.
For Jane, the event marked another milestone in a decade of fundraising.
