Rescue greyhounds take starring role at volunteers’ wedding celebration
From kennels to confetti.
There was certainly a touch of greyhound glamour at the wedding of Home Run Hounds volunteers Rachael and Nick, after the happy couple invited two special kennel residents to join them on their big day.

Wanting to include the rescue charity that means so much to them, Rachael and Nick asked if a pair of greyhounds could attend the celebrations and help witness their special union. Naturally, Home Run Hounds was thrilled to be involved, with much-loved kennel hounds Creed and Astra chosen for the important role. Accompanied by volunteers Jess and Claire, the pair spent the day charming guests and proving just how calm, gentle and affectionate retired greyhounds can be.

Of course, no wedding appearance would be complete without a little pampering first. Creed and Astra enjoyed an extra grooming session ahead of the ceremony and arrived looking every bit the stars of the show. The duo welcomed guests on arrival, happily posed for photographs and behaved impeccably throughout the day, with Creed managing to steal plenty of attention after deciding the ceremony was the perfect opportunity for a peaceful snooze, creating more than a few smiles and “ahh” moments among family and friends.
The special appearance also gave guests the chance to meet retired greyhounds up close and learn more about the work Home Run Hounds does to care for and rehome the breed. Volunteers said the dogs represented the charity beautifully and were a credit to everyone involved in their care.

Home Run Hounds thanked Rachael and Nick for allowing the charity to share in such a memorable occasion, describing the day as a wonderful celebration filled with love, laughter and, of course, a little bit of greyhound mischief and charm.
