Penkridge golf club swings into action for Parkinson’s UK charity fundraiser
The Seniors and Ladies sections of The Chase Golf Club, near Penkridge, have raised £5,865 for charity Parkinson’s UK.
Members raised the amount for Parkinson’s UK through a number of events including charity golf days, table top sales, quiz night, guess the tees in a bottle and raffles.

The Seniors and Ladies Captains decided to fundraise for Parkinson’s UK as they have a mutual friend with the condition. Therefore, they decided they wanted to raise money to help the charity develop better treatments and a cure for the condition.
Andy Shortland, Seniors Captain 2025 at The Chase Golf Club said: I have recently learned about the challenges faced by individuals with Parkinson’s disease and am committed to supporting those affected, as well as advancing research toward a cure. I sincerely appreciate everyone who participated in our fundraising efforts and trust that our contribution will have a positive impact.
Alison Cope Community Fundraiser at Parkinson’s UK, said: “We are so grateful to the members at the Chase Golf Club, for taking part in this fund raising and choosing to donate to Parkinson’s UK.
"Andy was initially hoping to raise about £1,500-£2,000 initially but through his and his wife's hard work and brilliant innovative fundraising ideas totally blew their target."
