New bleed control kit aims to improve safety in Dudley town centre
The public access kit at Churchill Shopping Centre will help people respond to life-threatening bleeding while waiting for emergency services
A new emergency bleed control kit has been installed at the Churchill Shopping Centre in Dudley town centre to help people suffering life-threatening bleeding.

The public access cabinet is at the centre’s Birmingham Street entrance, where it can be reached by shoppers and other visitors.
It was funded by Castle and Priory ward councillor Keiran Casey following fundraising and work with the Daniel Baird Foundation, which campaigns to make bleed control kits more widely available.
Councillor Casey approached the shopping centre’s owners, LCP UK, part of M Core, to ask for their support in installing the cabinet on their property.
The location was chosen because of the number of people passing through the entrance, with footfall expected to increase when the new bus station and Metro interchange are completed.
Bleed control kits contain equipment to help people manage severe bleeding while waiting for emergency services to arrive. Serious bleeding can result from incidents including road accidents, falls and other injuries.
Councillor Casey, who also represents the Daniel Baird Foundation, said he was grateful to the Churchill Centre management team for supporting the installation.
He said having another kit available in Dudley town centre could help save lives in an emergency.
Churchill Centre manager Bruno Coppola said the cabinet was a straightforward step that could make a difference in an emergency, adding that the centre was proud to support the campaign to improve public safety.
