Mentor Link founder Andrea Maddocks MBE has retired after 24 years of supporting children and schools across the Midlands
The founder of a children’s charity supporting youngsters across the Midlands has retired after 24 years at the helm.

Andrea Maddocks MBE founded Mentor Link to provide one-to-one support for children in schools, helping to improve self-esteem and engagement with learning.
She was thanked for her years of dedication at the charity's annual conference in Worcester on September 2, attended by volunteer mentors, trustees, educational psychologists and Mentor Link staff.
Reflecting on her retirement, Andrea said founding and running the charity had been "a great journey" and that her mission had been to help and support young people and schools to improve outcomes for children.
"Over our history, we have supported thousands of local children, and as I retire, I want to say thank you to my wonderful Volunteer Mentors, Staff and Trustees, who all strive to make the charity the success it is today," she said.
"I am looking forward to retirement and a new life chapter."
Mentor Link works with more than 80 schools across the Midlands and has supported children for more than two decades.
The charity also works with two educational psychologists to deliver an EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance) project, supporting children to return to education after periods of absence.
Mentors are professionally recruited and trained, DBS vetted and supported by the charity's dedicated team.
Mentor Link is currently looking for volunteers able to spare one to two hours a week.
