Four years ago, Annie, from Guernsey, discovered Stray Cat Rescue Team West Midlands, based in Albrighton. She said there was something different about the organisation.

"It was more than a charity or a cause – it was life. They never give up, even on the toughest cases. Every cat means something to them," she said.

After adopting seven rescue cats, Annie decided she wanted to give something back.

On June 27, she set off on the 1,000-mile journey from Land's End to John O'Groats, tackling more than 37,000ft of climbing along the way.

The photos of her beloved cat, Daisy-Poppalily, reflect why the challenge means so much to her.

"Stray Cat Rescue Team West Midlands is a special rescue. It has won my heart. They deal with the sickest cats, the hardest cases. They are passionate beyond anything I have ever seen," Annie said.

The challenge follows more than 10 months of dedicated training.

After completing day three of the ride, Annie said she was still smiling despite sore toes and a minor accident.

"Knowing the cats will benefit is keeping me going," she said.

She added that last year was particularly difficult for the rescue after it was hit by a devastating virus outbreak that wiped out its funds.

Annie is due to ride through Yorkshire next and hopes to complete the challenge in eight days. She is aiming to raise £1,000 to support the rescue's work.
