Burntwood man celebrates 100th birthday by renewing vows with wife
John Judd marked his milestone birthday by renewing his vows with wife Dorothy in a special blessing, recreating their wedding day more than 60 years ago
Tears of joy were shed at a Burntwood care home as resident John Judd celebrated his 100th birthday by renewing his vows with his wife, Dorothy.

The couple, who live together at Hammerwich Hall Care Home on Burntwood Road, were surrounded by family and friends as they celebrated their 61 years of marriage with a special wedding blessing.
Staff transformed the home into a wedding venue for the occasion on Wednesday, October 14, recreating the atmosphere of the Judds' wedding in 1964.

John was overcome with happiness when he saw Dorothy dressed in green for the ceremony, which was conducted by Sarah Merriman, head of dementia at care home provider Advinia Healthcare and a qualified registrar.
The couple's daughter, Jeanette Elliott, said the celebration had been an unforgettable experience for the family.
She said: “We are truly grateful to the team at Hammerwich Hall for giving our family such a memorable day in honour of our parents’ 61 years of marriage.

“It was a beautiful celebration of their love, devotion, and the life they have built together. Every detail made the occasion feel as special as they are!”
Following the blessing, the couple enjoyed a wedding breakfast based on their original 1960s menu, featuring prawn cocktail, roast beef and strawberry cheesecake.
Fellow residents joined them for the meal before everyone enjoyed a slice of wedding cake made by Lola’s.
Home manager Kerrie Carpenter said the event was a testament to the teamwork at Hammerwich Hall.

She said: “What a truly wonderful and special day it has been - I feel so proud to see our residents, families, staff, and guests coming together to share this beautiful blessing.
“Days like this remind us that our home is not just a care home; it is a family filled with love, kindness, friendship, and wonderful memories.”
She thanked everyone who helped organise the celebration, adding that it had been a privilege to share the occasion with the family.
