Albrighton & District Historical Society presents 'Stupid Moments in History' - a talk
On Monday (September 1) Albrighton & District Historical Society welcomes back Anthony Poulton-Smith, the topic of his talk is ‘Stupid Moments in History’. The start time is 7.30pm and the venue is The Red House in the High St Albrighton.
No doubt Anthony will have many historical events to choose from. Perhaps he might alight upon an extraordinary event during the latter part of the eighteenth century when Britain was at war with France. A French merchant ship sank close to the shore, the only survivor was a monkey dressed in French military uniform. No doubt this would have been done as some kind of amusement for the crew but for the poor monkey it proved fatal when the he was put on trial and hanged as a French spy!
The talk is sure to entertain and educate so come and join us on Monday, all are welcome, just £3 on the door for visitors.
