A night to remember: Year 11 students celebrating learning and achievement together

On Tuesday, 24 June, Year 11 students from Wolgarston High School attended their school prom, which was held at The Chase Golf and Country Club. Parents, families and friends gathered outside the venue to watch the students arrive before entering the venue.

Over 167 students attended the event which was organised by Miss Sarah-Jane Roberts (Learning Resources Centre Administrator) and Mrs Sally Stanton (Head of PE).

“Our Prom celebrates the hard work and dedication of our students,” said Mrs Stanton, “It’s a moment to recognise their efforts and to reflect on the end of a successful 3 years of study with us at Wolgarston High School. It’s a privilege for all involved to see and be part of such a fantastic event!”

This year Wolgarston students chose to travel in style, there was an eclectic variety of different transportation. They ranged from the Gotham City Police Department, Lamborghini's, tractors, a party bus to the Inbetweeners car.

Upon arrival the Wolgarston students had exclusive VIP treatment of having their photos taken and then receiving a mock-tail before being seated at their tables, that were beautifully decorated by Party Box Wolverhampton.

The students dined on a bespoke buffet and very soon after eating their delicious food did not hesitate to get straight onto the dance floor and continue the celebrations into the night.

At the stroke of 9 o’clock, this year’s Prom King and Prom Queen were announced as always by Mr Matthew Skinner (Assistant Head and Teacher of PE). This year’s winners were Alex Guy and Nicole Davies. After the crowns were presented to Alex and Nicole by Mrs Carly Watson (Inclusion Manager and DSL) students got straight back to dancing.

“As always our students have had an amazing time and their behaviour was absolutely impeccable,” said Mr Skinner, “Milestone events like our annual Year 11 prom are so important to our students, as it will be the last time they are together before choosing to go onto pastures new or staying on at Wolgarston Sixth Form. We wish them all the best in their future adventures.”

“It has been an honour and a pleasure for Mrs Stanton and I to organise prom for our students and see them enjoying themselves after working so hard this year at school,” said Miss Roberts, “I would like to thank everyone who has helped make this event so special, especially all of the staff who attended. I would also like to thank Party Box in Bushbury for as always supplying fantastic decorations and to The Chase Golf and Country Club for hosting our event. It was a magical evening. All of our students have all done Wolgarston proud.”
