An Indian restaurant that has hosted royalty is opening at Resorts World Birmingham - here’s when

Resorts World Birmingham has announced an exciting new partnership with award-winning restaurant, The Indian Streatery.

Coming to the lower ground floor of the centre between Pizza Express and Nando’s with their new flagship restaurant, is a food-offering like no other.

The family led kitchen, which has hosted Prince William and Princess Kate, proudly combines Indian classics, with a funky street-food flair that can’t be found anywhere else in Birmingham.

The new opening follows eight years of success on Bennett’s Hill in the city centre, as well as their successful stint at the Bullring.

The Resorts World Birmingham restaurant will be the third bricks and mortar site for the team, and it’s the only Indian food venue on site.

The Indian Streatery was founded in 2012 by Meena Sharma - a home cook who noticed a distinct lack of South Asian food available at food markets. With the support of her family, she created a menu that honours authentic South Asian cuisine while serving it with a modern, street-food energy that's become her signature.

The road to success wasn't straightforward. When the idea was still just a spark, Meena’s then corporate boss told her she'd "never make it" - and that opening her own food spot was a "waste of time”.

But Meena made a promise to herself and her family: prove them wrong, and now, the third opening of The Indian Streatery is the latest chapter in making good on that promise.

Built on community from the very beginning, The Indian Streatery runs a female-only kitchen - giving South Asian women from across the city not just a place to work, but a stage for their expert cooking skills.

All of their ales are brewed on Birmingham soil by local brewers, the Birmingham Brewing Company, and to mark the new opening, the Streatery will be hosting a charity night on launch day.

‘Everyone’s going to love our authentic family recipes!’

Dhiraj Sharma, owner of The Indian Streatery said: “It’s been an absolute pleasure to work alongside Resorts World to spread more flavour across the region with our third opening since we started this journey. We’re all so excited to share our food with a new part of the city, and we know that everyone’s going to love our authentic family recipes! We are thrilled to be the first Indian food offering at the iconic Resorts World!

Jason Kirsch, Operations Director at Resorts World Birmingham added: “It’s been a long time coming but welcoming such an exciting new restaurant to our roster, especially one that’s so intrinsically connected to the city – feels very special.

“We’re certain all our guests are going to be just as pleased as we are – with a fabulous addition to our food family joining the venue, it’s going to be the perfect place to enjoy a tasty bite with family or friends. We’re really looking forward to seeing what the team bring to Resorts World.”
