Afternoon tea at the Ironbridge cafe where every day is Christmas is as magical as it sounds
Every day is Christmas at the Little Christmas Shop & Mrs Claus' Kitchen in Ironbridge.

If you just can't wait for Christmas, you're in luck. In the first of its kind, a year-round Christmas shop and cafe has opened its doors to serve festive treats every day of the year.
Run by director Kim Warren, the Little Christmas Shop & Mrs Claus' Kitchen sits twinkling away on the high street, with a little balcony that overlooks the Severn.

Kim, who worked as a hairdresser for 25 years and ran a Christmas shop for three, said she wanted to "diversify the business" by moving to a bigger site and having a Christmas cafe and shop in one – which she says is the first of its kind in the UK.
As I stepped inside, I instantly forgot about the grey, tepid weather and was instead met with a tearoom that resembles a warm, cosy cottage.

To the left, Christmas decorations and little trinkets line the walls – my favourite of which were tiny, felt sprouts with Santa hats on.
To the right, a couple of tables where guests can sit and admire the view of the beautiful high street whilst sipping a gingerbread latte.

Three steps lead down into another tearoom where there are more tables, and an upstairs seating area too. The whole place is utterly charming, with exposed beams, decorations, and Christmas tree–print table cloths.
I was there to try Mrs Claus' afternoon tea, which is served with tea, coffee, or a glass of prosecco.

Everything served at the cafe is homemade, and you wouldn't doubt it – the sandwiches were soft and stuffed with fillings, the sausage roll was rustic and meaty, and the cakes – oh, the cakes – melted in your mouth.
Mince pies were stuffed with filling in a soft, buttery pasty, generously dusted with icing sugar. The Christmas cakes were topped with a layer of marzipan and decorated icing, with every bite treating you to big, juicy currants.

Finger sandwiches lined the third plate down, one with ham and mustard, another with cheese and chutney, and lastly, a turkey, brie and cranberry sauce, my personal favourite.
The afternoon tea I was treated to serves three people, but I gave it a good go. Prices are £24.95 per person for a high tea with unlimited tea or coffee, or £29.95 per person for a high tea with prosecco.
Other delicacies offered with the afternoon tea include fruit scones, Christmas tree brownies, and mini cupcakes.
Bookings can be made by calling Kim on 07832734889.
