1. Lickey Hills Country Park
Now, this one’s a bit of a local secret. Head to Rednal, climb the highest point in Lickey Hills, and voilà! A favourite among dog walkers and Sunday strollers. The view from the top is worth the huffing and puffing up the hill. Lickey Hills Country Park is only 11 miles south of Birmingham's city centre yet offers 525 acres of woodlands, heathlands, and grasslands. It's one of Birmingham's most varied parks due to its complex geology. The on-site facilities at Lickey Hills make it a great family-friendly place to enjoy nature. There is a café with accessible toilets, and a children's play area. The woodland trails are well-signposted with routes that are easily accessible. | david hughes - stock.adobe.com

2. Attingham Park, Shropshire
Attingham Park has over 200 acres of parkland. It's an 18th-century estate with a Georgian Mansion, two-acre orchard, historic pleasure grounds, and restored Walled Garden. Dogs aren't allowed inside the café or shops, there are 'paw-friendly' toilets and water bowls for your companion. Another National Trust spot. | National Trust

3. Wyre Forest
This ancient wood used to stretch from Severn Valley to Worcester. Along with the usual facilities including Forest Café, child's play area, and accessible toilets. Photo: Submitted

4. Warley Woods, Smethwick
This 100-acre green space features lovely woodland trails and open meadows. It’s historic (Grade II listed) and ideal for a peaceful walk. The café is at The Pavilion near Lightwoods Hill — the café menu includes full breakfasts, cakes and snacks. | Stacey AlcantaraMontero
