Sheffield Wednesday and Wigan battle out goalless draw

Mason Burstow was one of those to have chances to score, but could not find the mark.
Sheffield Wednesday and Wigan had to settle for a 0-0 draw in a fairly even contest which saw both teams hit the woodwork.
In the opening few minutes, Wednesday’s Mason Burstow burst clear on the right wing and fired in a shot which struck the near post.
As the hosts continued to press, Kieran Morrison saw his shot beaten away by Joe Whitworth and then Yan Valery put a glancing header wide.
At the other end, Joe Lumley was forced to get down smartly at his near post to save a low shot from Reggie Walsh.
Whitworth came to Wigan’s rescue in the latter stages of the half when he stuck out a leg to keep out Valery’s shot.
The home side had a real let-off just before the hour-mark when Jensen Weir’s shot came back off a post and Walsh failed to direct the rebound on target.
Substitute Harry Gray had a great chance to snatch victory for Wednesday deep into time added on, firing over from a good position.
