Livingston made a winning start to life back in the Scottish Championship.

Livi only lasted one season following their return to the top flight, winning just two games, but Robbie Muirhead’s second-half double earned them a 2-0 victory over Queen’s Park on the opening weekend of the new campaign.

Ayr United claimed victory against Arbroath by the same scoreline thanks to goals from Ben Summers and Ross Taylor while Lewis Hodgkiss cancelled out Paul McMullan’s opener as promoted Stenhousemuir held Raith Rovers to a 1-1 draw.

Tsoanelo Letsosa’s 82nd-minute goal earned Partick Thistle a 1-0 win over Greenock Morton, while Inverness and Dunfermline drew 0-0.

East Kilbride made a storming start to life in Scottish League One with a 5-1 victory over Queen of the South.

After back-to-back promotions, East Kilbride made a statement by taking apart the team who finished third in the third tier last season, with Craig McGuddie and Finlay Gray both netting twice.

There was also a big win for Hamilton against Montrose, with Stuart McKinstry scoring twice in a 5-0 victory for the away side.

Brian Graham netted the only goal for relegated Ross County in a 1-0 win over Peterhead, while there were goalless draws between Alloa and East Fife and Cove Rangers and Airdrieonians.

There was an extraordinary finish in the League Two game between Annan and Spartans.

Annan led 2-0 going into the 84th minute only for Spartans to score four times and clinch a 4-2 victory.

Brogan Walls began the comeback, James Craigen equalised in the 88th minute and Marc McNulty put Spartans ahead from the penalty spot two minutes later before making sure with his second in the sixth minute of stoppage time.

Having finished bottom of the table last term but kept their place in the league by winning the play-offs, Edinburgh City were dealt a sobering start to the season with a 5-0 thumping by Elgin City.

Following relegation from League One, Kelty Hearts slipped to a 1-0 defeat against Forfar, Angus Mailer scoring the only goal, while Clyde came from behind to defeat Stranraer 3-1.

Ronan Hughes opened the scoring in the 25th minute but Clyde hit back strongly, with all the goals coming before half-time.

Jordan Allan scored twice, the first from the penalty spot, in Stirling’s 2-0 win against Dumbarton.
