Wolves v Portsmouth: Visitors checking on striker amid injury crisis
The south coast club have won their last two matches despite losing key players.
Portsmouth could be missing as many as 10 senior players for Tuesday night’s trip to Molineux.
Striker Colby Bishop is the latest player to suffer an injury concern after sitting out Saturday’s win at Norwich with a knee issue.
The 29-year-old will be assessed ahead of the match at Molineux but forward Keshi Anderson is definitely out, having suffered a hamstring tear in last week’s victory over Sheffield United.
“It is a massive blow, a huge blow when you look at where we were on Saturday,” said boss John Mousinho.
“We had two goalkeepers on the bench and then lost another player during the warm-up.
“Colby plays through anything so whenever he feels anything and tells you he is unfit to play, you know he is not just protecting himself.
“That was a real blow. We need the squad, which is the case every season. We saw on Saturday we need players to come in.”
Despite the injury troubles, Portsmouth will arrive at Molineux with a sense of renewed momentum after an impressive response to their 1-0 derby defeat to Southampton, suffered in the first match back following the international break.
Serbian ace Marezi scored the only goal of the match at Norwich. Mousinho reckons the clash with Wolves, the first time the teams have met since 2010, will be a tougher proposition.
“It will be a very different game to Saturday,” he said. “I watched Wolves on Friday go up to Burnley and win.
“They have some extremely talented players and from our point of view we have to be on it.
“We have to take the test on in a very different manner and go from there. It’s a good opportunity for the boys.”
