Wolves v Newcastle preview: Boss urging belief ahead of tough selection dilemma

Rob Edwards has urged his players to keep believing and fight to win every game as they take on Newcastle United tomorrow.

Wolves have found some momentum and form as they are four unbeaten in all competitions and welcome the Magpies to Molineux with renewed optimism, despite sitting bottom of the Premier League table.

Edwards' side are still likely to be relegated, but many of his players have spoken publicly in recent weeks to insist it is not over yet and the head coach has welcomed that attitude.

He said: "We have to and the players have got to go into every game believing that we can win and we certainly do.

"I feel, especially these last few weeks, I genuinely feel as well the lads have got that belief now. So they have to (give those messages).

"My thing will always be that we fight to the end of the 38th game, regardless of whatever happens. That's what we have to do."

Ladislav Krejci, Rodrigo Gomes and Matt Doherty have all spoken publicly about not giving up on survival.

When asked if there was any surprise it was those three players putting that message out, Edwards added: "No, but I think if you asked any of the group at the moment, they'd be saying the same sorts of things. I believe that.

"You're talking about three really good characters there who certainly, as well as doing the right stuff on the training pitch and on the pitch as well, they'll be saying the right things."

Wolves take on a strong Newcastle side who have won their last three top flight matches, despite losing to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg in midweek.

They also have several injury issues, but still pose a stern test for Wolves as they bid to continue their new-found form.

Edwards has a few tough decisions with his team selection, both in midfield and up front.

A midfield three of Joao Gomes, Jhon Arias and Mateus Mane - with the latter two as makeshift number eights - has worked of late, but recognised midfielder Andre is in the mix to start again and could be called upon against a strong Newcastle midfield.

Jorgen Strand Larsen and Tolu Arokodare will also battle it out to start up front, with one of them being chosen to partner Hwang Hee-chan of late.

"There's a few (selection headaches), which is really good," Edwards said.

"When you're maybe not getting the results, you've got some headaches because you're thinking you might have to change it and search for that result.

"On the flip side now, we've had a few good performances and results and there's some good headaches, which is what we all want."

The head coach also added that Larsen and Arokodare can play together, as he remained coy on who he will chose to play tomorrow.

"They're different people, so they'll give us different things," he added on the two towering strikers.

"I don't think it's like for like, I think everyone can see that.

"I think they'll give us different qualities because they're completely different people. I think they can play together, they have done.

"If they haven't started, then one of them can come on and they can play together and be effective.

"It's important people don't think it's him or him and that's it. They can play together, but they both give us completely different qualities."
