Wolves supporters urged to boycott start of Manchester United match
Wolves supporters are being urged to boycott the first 15 minutes of Monday’s match against Manchester United in protest at Fosun’s ownership.
Angry fans claim the club’s position at the foot of the Premier League is due to the “negligence and incompetence” of their Chinese owners and want to make their feelings known.
Supporter group the Old Gold Pack released a statement on Friday calling on fellow fans to stay outside Molineux for the first 15 minutes of Monday’s game.
It read: “A visibly empty stadium speaks louder than any chant, banner or slogan ever could.
“We all care. We all hurt. We all want better for Wolves.
“This only works if the majority of us stand together and take part. This is our club. Make it count.”
Wolves have taken just two points from their first 14 Premier League matches and are already 12 points adrift of safety.
They have not won in the top flight since April, a winless run which will extend to 19 matches - the equivalent of half a season - should they fail to beat United.
Fosun bought Wolves from Steve Morgan in 2016 and initially enjoyed huge success, with the club winning promotion to the Premier League two years later, before reaching the quarter-finals of the Europa League in 2020.
But recent seasons have brought regular battles against relegation and many fans place responsibility for the decline squarely at the feet of ownership.
The Old Gold Pack statement continued: “Few teams have shaped the game like ours.
“But today, that legacy is being eroded - not by the fans, not by the players, but by the continued negligence and incompetence of Fosun.”
