The Brazilian forward was charged by the FA following an altercation with an Ipswich staff member after the loss at Molineux last week.

He was pictured in a confrontation in which he threw an elbow and then grabbed glasses off the staff member's face.

Cunha had until Thursday to respond to the charge but Wolves are yet to hear back from the FA, who are collecting evidence before imposing any potential ban.

As a result, the forward is currently free to play against Leicester on Sunday.

An FA statement read: “Matheus Cunha has been charged with misconduct following the Premier League match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Ipswich Town on Saturday, 14 December.

“The forward allegedly acted in an improper manner after the final whistle. He has until Thursday, 19 December, to provide a response.”

If Cunha is found guilty by the governing body, he is likely to receive at least a three-match ban.

Wolves will also have the opportunity to appeal against it.
