Wolves star confident long break won't impact improved form
Adam Armstrong is confident Wolves will be able to pick up where they left off at the end of their long late season break.
Rob Edwards’ men face a wait of more than three weeks until they are next in action, away at West Ham.
The break, caused by this weekend’s scheduled home match against Arsenal being brought forward to last month, has come with Wolves in their best form of what has been a tough campaign, after taking seven points from their last three matches.
But January signing Armstrong, who bagged his first goal for the club in Monday’s 2-2 draw at Brentford, does not believe the extended lay-off will disrupt their momentum.
He said: “It is going to be interesting with a big three-week break but we will be working hard.
“We have to enjoy the couple of days off but then go again, it’s as simple as that.
“We have another big game next, when it comes around. It is another one which can help us keep chasing teams down.”
The Arsenal clash was moved forward due to the Gunners reaching this Sunday’s Carabao Cup final, part of the last round of fixtures heading into an international break.
With the Premier League then not in action over the Easter weekend, it means Wolves have 25 days between matches.
Edwards has granted his players some extra time-off over the next week, while at least one behind-closed-doors friendly will be played to ensure those not away international duty remain in shape.
“I have never known it before, in all the time I have been playing,” said Armstrong. “We’ll get a few days off but then it is back to work.
“We just have to keep on working every day in training to get the best out of each other and see where that takes us.”
