Wolves' FA Cup opponents facing potential defensive shortage

Bristol City could be facing a defensive shortage ahead of their FA Cup clash with Wolves.

The Robins welcome Premier League opposition to Ashton Gate tomorrow lunchtime and will be keen to continue their current momentum that has seen them go on an unbeaten run of four games.

Defender Rob Dickie played 90 minutes in City's 1-0 win over Derby at the weekend but has now come down with a bug and may miss the challenge of Wolves.

"Very much so," head coach Liam Manning said when asked if Dickie was a doubt for this weekend's game.

"Rob's been ill. Rob's been in bed since (the Derby game). He got out yesterday so again it's a huge credit to him.

"He was ill before the game and I was texting him on Monday and he was ill, quite ill. The doctor has been around to see him. It speaks volumes about him and what people are willing to do for the team, I think that's the biggest bit we want here.

"When you look at it everybody has played, everybody has had an opportunity, people have naturally played different minutes to each other, but they've all played. When anybody steps on, they need to be ready to go and that will be the same with the period we've got coming up."

If Dickie is unavailable, Manning has few options to choose from at centre-back after Rob Atkinson's loan move to Portsmouth has left them short of senior defenders, however George Tanner and Ross McCrorie could fill in.

City will also be boosted by the return of Kal Naismith and Mark Sykes who have both been injured since November.

"Naisy's trained so Naisy comes into contention," Manning said.

"He's obviously someone that we have to ease back in. Naisy's back and Syksey's back.

"They've both trained this week so far so they're in contention for the weekend."
