What's it like interviewing eight West Brom squad and staff members in four days on tour?

We were kept busy in Burgenland last week as Albion provided us with players and members of staff for interview.

Eight in total - six players and two members of staff - were put up to chat with the Express & Star in the Baggies' scenic base in Bad Tatzmannsdorf.

Here is a flavour of how it works, what the interviewees said and what impression they left on me.

Tammer Bany

When? Tuesday, 3.30pm

Where? AVITE Therme resort atrium

Standout quote:  "The streets helped me with and without the ball. I am also very aggressive and I 100 per cent got that from the streets."

Memories: Straight from the airport and straight into it! It was a first opportunity to speak with the January signing and he made a huge impression. The Dane's English was impressive, first of all, and so was his confidence and self-belief. His story was a fascinating one, being a 'street footballer' from Copenhagen and rising from the third tier in his homeland to the first and then to Albion in such a quick time. A chat with Bany was one of my favourites for some time.

Aune Heggebo

When? Tuesday, 4.30pm

Where? AVITE Therme resort atrium

Standout quote: "I think it was (nickname of 'The Hulk' from SK Brann fans) supposed to be funny from supporters. It was (about) a lot of duels, being hard-working, I think it was because of that."

Memories: Straight after Bany we were served up the £4.7million new-boy, whose signing had been confirmed the night before. Striker Heggebo's English was decent, he cut an imposing yet very friendly figure. He enjoyed the suggestion Albion fans could start wearing masks of The Hulk if he hits the ground running with lots of goals.

Tony Strudwick

When? Wednesday, 12pm

Where? AVITE Therme training pitch number two

Standout quote:  "We've been on a journey with Daryl, the club and fans have, his team-mates and the medical department have. For him to be on the pitch on the last day of the season against Luton - we share that (joy). We know what it means to him, how much he wants to be successful for this club. That's never changed since Daryl came through the door three-and-a-half years ago."

Memories: A slightly different perspective here as Albion's director of medical Strudwick joined us immediately after the first of a double session we had the chance to watch on the site's grounds. It was only the second time I had interviewed Strudwick, but chatting with such an experienced and well-respected professional is always a pleasure. He speaks with such detail and helps the layman understand medical and fitness information. We had a laugh as he batted off jibes from his Manchester United past from colleagues.

Josh Griffiths

When? Wednesday, 4.30pm

Where? AVITE Therme training pitch number two

Standout quote: "I definitely want that (No.1) spot. I'm willing to put the work in, have a good pre-season, at the end of the day it's down to the manager, I've got to try to do as much as I can."

Memories: Mainly because he has spent so much time away on loan, this was a first chance to speak formally with Griffiths, who carries himself in search a personable and eloquent way. It is a pleasure to be around the academy graduate goalkeeper - and you want him to do well. He got locked out of the dressing room spending time with us, too!

Alex Mowatt

When? Thursday, 12.30pm

Where? AVITE Therme main balcony area

Standout quote: "To be honest it shocked me when he (Ryan Mason) first came in, how good he was at talking and getting his message across."

Memories: An interview with 'Mowey' is always fun. He brings that dry, sharp Yorkshire wit in spades and as an experienced squad member he can offer the context of recent seasons. He was great value on the collapse under Tony Mowbray, Ryan Mason's appointment and Mikey Johnston's return after the Flamengo collapse. Mowatt kept his focus as Kyle Bartley tried to pelt us with blueberries from afar!

Caleb Taylor

When? Thursday, 1.30pm

Where? AVITE Therme main balcony area (on the comfy sofas)

Standout quote: "I've done three loans now. I said this last year, but I really do feel like I'm ready now. I've played over 100 games in league football, I've got the experience. I believe in my capability to play here."

A comfortable chat with Caleb Taylor!

Memories: Young Taylor is only 22 but I've had the chance to interview him a few times now and he is progressing and maturing with his confidence each time. Loans away from The Hawthorns help that - and Taylor had plenty to say this time. His confidence shines through. He could not be more ready to make a breakthrough at Albion - and does not mind the stiff competition around him. Kept his cool as the BBC's Steve Hermon picked up his phone, thinking it was his own!

Callum Styles

When? Friday, 2pm (post-match)

Where? AVITE Therme main football pitch - home to SC Bad Tatzmannsdorf

Standout quote: "I've had a good season in me and it (left-back) feels 100 per cent natural now. I'm getting to know what the gaffer wants us to do in specific positions... I missed being able to advance forward, you saw in the last game (of last season) I can advance forward and make a difference."

Memories: Albion's left-back is a understated but confident talker and gives good honesty with his answers. I remember him referencing his two goals on the final day of last season and saying how he misses the days he used to play more advanced. He is popular with fans because they like that he is on the front foot.

Ryan Mason

When? Friday, 2.15pm (post-match)

Where? AVITE Therme main football pitch - home to SC Bad Tatzmannsdorf

Standout quote: "When you spend a week somewhere it is so intense. I think it accelerates relationships and bonds. It allows me to have my eyes on the players and see different dynamics and personalities. I've been so happy with it because I haven't had to get involved."

Memories: The big one was chatting with new head coach Mason for only the second time, this time in a more intimate setting. It was a relatively brief chat after the 1-1 Dynamo Kyiv draw but I found Mason to be very detailed and insightful with some of his answers. He was less keen to talk about individuals - or the transfer window! - but it was good time in his company and I look forward to more.
