West Brom player ratings v Norwich: 2s and low marks handed out on disgraceful night at Hawthorns

Jonny Drury rates the West Brom players after they were battered 5-0 against Norwich.

Josh Griffiths

Couldn't lay three of the goals at his door but arguably should be doing better for the fourth goal, despite getting a hand to the initial shot. Just a collective defensive calamity for the fifth.

Stunned 3

Chris Mepham

A woeful, awful, shocking night for the defence. Mepham was nervy from the start, and never got better. Gave the ball away, beaten in tackles, and didn't cover himself in glory in a number of the goals.

Feeble 2

Nat Phillips

Slashed a ball right across his own six yard box in the first few minutes of the game - and hacked another straight out of play. Gave away fouls, looked so nervy on the ball and just not at the races throughout the first half before being dragged.

Poor 3

Charlie Taylor

No one in the back line can come out of it with any credit whatsoever. Just all looked disjointed including Taylor, didn't look like they knew what they were doing but there were so many individual mistakes between them.

Shocking 2

Krystian Bielik

Along with Styles were at fault for the first goal. Did okay in the first period on the whole, but it was just a dreadful second half display collectively, and the stand in skipper is included in that.

Difficult 3

Callum Styles

Harshly booked early on, before both him and Bielik were caught out for the Norwich opener. Sucked in and gave Norwich far too much space for the opening goal. Struggled in that midfield position, before moving out to wing back.

Struggled 4

Samuel Iling-Junior

Struck the post and had a header that he should have hit the target with in the first half. About the only player who came out of the game with any ounce of credit. Tested the keeper with one of Albion's only meaningful chances of the second half.

Okay 5

Isaac Price

Had a ropey start at right wing back with a few heavy touches. Grew into the first half of the game with a few key tackles and put in a good challenge to deny a Norwich chance. Also tried to make things happen with a couple of clipped balls over the top.

Unlucky 4

Mikey Johnston

Free kick to set up Grant early on and a bursting run about as good as it got for Johnston. Gave the ball away, committed fouls when he lost the ball, throwing his arms up in the air as frustration grew. A bad night.

Blunt 3

Josh Maja

Non existent for much of the half. Heavy touches handed possession straight back to Norwich. Did link up on the odd occasion with Johnston coming in from the flank but was just poor, offered nothing and was rightly hooked at the break.

Non-existent 3

Karlan Grant

Had a headed chance early on that he should have done better with but aside from that showed nothing. Looked out of place playing down the middle in the first half as Albion tweaked their system

Chance 3

46 - Jed Wallace for Price 4

Showed energy at times but couldn't make anything happen

One with a little bit of credit, decent hold up play and got players in the game early in the second half 5

46 - Jayson Molumby for Nat Phillips

Looked non-existent when he came off the bench 3

63 - Alex Mowatt for Styles

Struggled to make an impact on the game 4
