West Brom new boy a sponge for advice as he catches the eye

Albion new boy Tammer Bany has been praised for an eager-to-learn attitude in his early weeks at the club.

Danish attacking midfielder Bany, 21, made a £3.3million move from Randers in his homeland to The Hawthorns towards the end of the transfer window.

Bany finally made his first Baggies appearance as a late substitute in Saturday's win over Oxford and laid on his side's second goal for John Swift deep into stoppage time of the 2-0 victory.

Boss Tony Mowbray has been impressed with what he has seen in training, too, both from a technical perspective and from the attacker's desire to learn.

"I'm pleased for him, he's a nice kid," Mowbray said of Bany. "He knocks on my door every day and talks about how he wants to get better, wants to learn about English football and learn what his job is.

"He has a million touches in training, he's good, the fans are going to like him, I think, when we get him up to speed.

"He's a dribbler, it ricochets off everybody's shins and it comes back to him on the other side and he's through. He's one of those - 'wow, how did he do that?

'"He's a really interesting footballer and it will be interesting to see how he grows into the team."

Bany, who a little over one year prior to his move was playing in the Danish second tier, was one of four attack-minded additions by Albion's Bilkul Football ownership in the new year.

Strikers Adam Armstrong and Will Lankshear checked in on loan and midfielder Isaac Price moved in a £2.5m deal.

Price, who was playing in Belgium, and Bany were moves led by the ownership, namely sporting director Andrew Nestor, and head of football operations Ian Pearce.

The quartet have made an impact on Mowbray's side as Albion eye a push to finish in the Championship's top six, with a trip to leaders Leeds on the horizon next on Saturday.
