West Brom hoping to complete double striker swoop as target confirmed

The Baggies are aiming to get two deals over the line.

Albion are hopeful of completing a swoop for Falkirk striker Barney Stewart as they continue to pursue early deals in the transfer window.

The Baggies are also on the brink of signing 20-year-old forward Jimmy-Jay Morgan from Chelsea for a fee of around £1.3million.

Stewart is another young star on their radar after the 22-year-old enjoyed a superb first full season in professional football.

The London-born hitman scored 18 goals in 33 matches in a campaign he began on loan at Dunfermline before being recalled by his parent club in January.

Stewart was on QPR’s books before moving to Scotland to study at university. He joined Falkirk in October 2024 after catching the eye while playing as an amateur for Heriot-Watt University.

His rapid rise is now expected to continue with a move back to England and the Championship, with Albion understood to be the frontrunners for his signature.

Speculation over a possible move first emerged last month.

When asked about the then reported interest, Stewart said: “It is insane. If it was to happen it would be a massive step and a quick rise if it does happen and one I would have to take in my stride, but speculation is speculation.”

Albion are also close to completing the signing of teenage defender Carter Pinnington from Liverpool, with the club taking a proactive approach to their summer business.

The Baggies have previously been restricted by the need to drastically reduce losses in order to comply with profit and sustainability rules.

But the hard work of past windows is now set to bear fruit, with the club having more wriggle room in the market.
