"We need to keep the positivity" - Wolves defender makes plea after City defeat

Ladislav Krejci has urged bottom-placed Wolves to stay positive as their unbeaten run came to an end at Manchester City.

First half goals from Omar Marmoush and Antoine Semenyo brought a close to Wolves' unbeaten streak after five games, marking their first defeat of 2026.

Rob Edwards' side have made significant improvements in recent weeks and Krejci - albeit frustrated at the defeat to City - wants to take the positives from Wolves' resurgence.

"Of course it will be ups and downs," the defender said.

"It cannot be only up and think we are winning everything or drawing everything. It's ups and downs and it's about us, how we will deal with it.

"We need to keep the positivity from the past results, what we did and also good things we did in this game, and continue.

"It's not easy, it's not something only positive, but it's a process and it will be at the end of the season, ups and downs. But I believe we are in a good way to start grabbing more points. It's a process."

Edwards has made Wolves more competitive, while many players are performing more freely and with confidence.

Krejci believes the belief has increased among the squad.

He added: "Of course, we try to take as many positive things from the last games as we can.

"We will analyse it, we will see what was good and bad and we will continue."

Wolves were lacklustre in the first half at the Etihad and allowed City to take control, before improving in the second half and creating enough chances to take the game to the wire.

Although Wolves could not find that goal to put pressure on City's lead, Krejci knows their below par first half killed off their chances of taking any points.

"The result of the second half was 0-0 and we had some chances," Krejci said.

"They also have it, by this feeling we can say it (was better), but the first half was the half that decided (the game).

"We know their qualities, everybody knows it, so it was a very hard one."

The defender is now turning his attention to a return to Molineux, as Wolves take on Bournemouth hoping to return to winning ways.

He added: "We need to continue and we know the next challenge is what is for us against Bournemouth at home, so this is the next one we have to deal with."
