Farquharson, who has been plagued by injury problems since joining Walsall in 2023, hobbled off just before half-time in their 3-1 win at Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday night.

The defender was not willing to take any risks on his groin issue and will undergo a scan on Friday.

That has cast him as a major doubt for the Chesterfield game but Sadler does not anticipate it to be a serious setback.

"Priestley will have a scan tomorrow," boss Sadler revealed.

"It doesn't look bad, but we've got to make sure that there isn't anything [there] due to his history."

The 28-year-old missed the majority of last season with a thigh injury but has featured five times for the club in all competitions so far this season.

Jellis was forced off at half-time during the Saddlers' 1-0 victory at MK Dons last Saturday, although Evan Weir has recovered from a knock to be available.

Midfielder Jellis continues to nurse a groin issue and Sadler confirmed he will be assessed over the next 24 hours.

"Jamie has still got a groin issue. It's nothing that we're worried about but we're just trying to make sure that he's ready to play," he added.

"So he'll be touch and go, but I know Jamie and he'll be desperate to play."

Jellis had previously started every league game for Walsall this season, but sat out their win at Croud Meadow in midweek.

Derby County loanee Dan Cox will also be unavailable, after he received his first Wales under-21s call-up ahead of the latest international break.
