Walsall's Albert Adomah says it would be an "amazing" individual achievement to reach 100 professional goals.

Adomah climbed off the bench to score his 99th career goal during the Saddlers' 2-2 draw against Cheltenham Town at the EV Charger Points Stadium on Tuesday night.

The 37-year-old looked poised to have secured a third straight win for Walsall until late goals from substitutes George Miller and Jordan Thomas rescued a point for Cheltenham.

Former Ghana international Adomah is chasing results over individual acclaim but hopes his can add to his tally to reach another milestone.

He said: "It's an amazing achievement to get 99 career goals. Hopefully I can add to the tally but the main thing is the team winning.

"If I come on, I could score a goal to help the team draw or to win, that would be a great achievement. If that milestone of 100 career goals comes then that would be amazing."

Walsall still sit seven points clear at the summit. As the most experienced head in the dressing room, Adomah wants to help pick his teammates up in order to negotiate their way through the business end of the season.

"Sometimes when you're experienced, you have to convey that in the dressing room," he continued.

"I've been through it. I've been at the top of the league or at the bottom end so I can only plant the seed of my knowledge and spread it among my teammates.

"Sometimes it's just about picking them up from something like this (drawing at Cheltenham). I know everyone will be frustrated and disappointed but we have to look at the bigger picture.

"We didn't lose and that's a positive. We knew we were the best team out there but it was just one of those games unfortunately."
