Tommy Simkin - 5

Hesitant - A few strong saves but the youngster thought about coming to collect the wonderful cross for Charlton's first goal and then his poor punched clearance led to the visitors' third.

Liam Gordon - 5

Active - Was heavily involved in the second-half as he and Walsall searched for a way back into the game, but his crosses and attacking could not find a way through.

Oisin McEntee - 5

Helpless - It was a frustrating afternoon for the captain who battled as part of the back three, but was unable to lead his side to victory and prevent the four-goal thrashing.

Taylor Allen - 6

Praised - Mat Sadler applauded the stand-out defender for his battling and strong tackles and clearances during a tough afternoon for the defence against strong opposition.

Harry Williams - 6

Tackled - The defender made several tackles and clearances early-on and after Charlton’s opener, denied their frontman a second opportunity through a crunching tackle. However, half-clearance led to the fourth goal.

Connor Barrett - 6

Tested - Barrett got forward down the right side and tested Ashley Maynard-Brewer twice. But, on a difficult afternoon for the defence, the wing-back was beaten for the final goal.

Lakin - 6

Subbed - Provided the first effort on goal for Walsall, albeit wide and not a problem for Maynard-Brewer. Was a tricky afternoon for Lakin and his team-mates against what was a professional Charlton performance.

Jellis - 5

Injured - Jellis has impressed so far this season, but the now 22 appearances took its toll and the midfielder struggled with a calf issue. Hopefully the midfielder won’t be out for long.

Comely - 5

Subbed - After a costly mistake for the second goal with a misplaced pass back towards Simkin with no pace or direction, Charlton capitalised, and he was then substituted with an injury.

Lowe - 6

Tried - Came closest with his header as Walsall searched for a reply inside the first-half. Was involved in several physical battles with a strong Charlton defence and was unable to affect the game too much.

Adomah - 5

Quiet - The 36-year-old was preferred to Jamille Matt , but struggled and was substituted at half-time. Was unable to register a shot on goal or trouble the Charlton defence.

Subs - Matt 6, tried. Earing - 5, quiet. Stirk - 5, ineffective.
