Unai Emery explains when Aston Villa will makes decision on loan duo
Pair are both due to feature in Sunday’s final Premier League match at Manchester City.
Unai Emery says Villa will decide next week whether to pursue deals for Douglas Luiz or Jadon Sancho.
The pair are currently on loan and facing uncertain futures as Villa ramp up their preparations for the summer transfer window.
Sancho is due to be a free agent as his contract at Manchester United expires and has interest from former club Borussia Dortmund.
Luiz, meanwhile, has spent the second half of the season on loan from Juventus. Villa have an option to buy him for £23million - just over half of what they told him to the Italian club for two years ago - yet the Brazilian has struggled for consistency and has not started in the Premier League since early March.
Asked if he had made a decision on either player, Emery replied: “Not yet. Now we are finishing the season. We will reflect and analyse each situation. We will decide it, but not yet.
“I am so, so proud of every player and how they have responded.
“Now is the moment after Sunday to take decisions how we will continue building and getting our development strongly.
"We are ambitious and everything we did is important to how we can analyse how to get better next year.
“I only want to improve and get better next year. The decisions we take will be in this direction.”
Villa are desperate to deliver a better window than 12 months ago. While the signings of goalkeeper Marco Bizot and veteran Victor Lindelof proved to be bargains, Emery has struggled to get consistent production out of Harvey Elliott, Evann Guessand and Sancho, the three attacking recruits.
Elliott will return to parent club Liverpool, while Guessand could join Crystal Palace permanently less than 12 months after joining from Nice in a £30m deal.
