Stourport produced a competitive first-half display, ensuring that the game remained tight throughout the half before Stafford took the lead with a well-worked goal just before half-time. Stourport enter their final match of the season with a trip to take on Stafford's 2nd XI, needing a positive result to secure survival for the 2nd XI.
The ladies' 1st XI travelled to play Nottingham Trent University, where they played out a 1-1 draw in their Women's Conference Midlands match. Starting well on a turgid pitch hampering creativity, Stourport moved the ball around nicely and put their hosts under pressure early on. After battling hard, Stourport took the lead when Laura Price converted a penalty flick after a foul on Sophie Thompson in the 'D', the visitors' lead lasted until the last quarter when Trent piled on the pressure and equalised from a short corner.
Overall, Stourport put in an outstanding performance and is looking to take on Cambridge University at home this week.
