'Still dangerous': A different Tom Fellows but the West Brom winger still outlined why his stock is so high

Tom Fellows has seen a lot of talk around his name this summer - and unsurprisingly so.

Last season's top assister was always going to be among the transfer talk - as Everton and Southampton were again linked with a possible move recently.

Heading into the new season, it was going to be interesting to see how Fellows would do. There is more of an expectation on him now from supporters, with a full and impressive campaign under his belt.

So how did the opener pan out for the Albion flyer, who goes into the season fresh from his England Under 21 success at the Euros.

Well, lets say for the large parts of Albion's 1-0 win over Blackburn he was quieter than he was at times last season - and that has been picked up on by sections of the fanbase.

The statement is right. We didn't see Fellows in full flow like we did at times last year, where everything is coming down the right hand side and the main aim is to get the ball to the flyer for him to put it in the box.

We saw Albion attacking in different ways. Aune Heggebo was dropping deep to link play and then in turn driving forward himself when took the ball on the turn.

We saw moves down the left through Karlan Grant and Callum Styles - and then Isaac Price dropping in to receive the ball, turning and driving through the middle.

The onus wasn't always on Fellows getting the ball wide, beating his man and firing it in.

So although we didn't see Fellows as active in that department as last year, we still saw a dangerous Fellows and one who can carry a threat at any given moment.

His link with Heggebo for the Norwegian's big chance saw superb awareness from Fellows to get beyond the full back and pull it back into his path.

On a couple of occasions in the second period, the winger got into good areas but balls into the box weren't quite on the money.

But the pleasing aspect was that he still carries a real threat. And having that threat and asset in your team, while also being able to carve out openings and dangerous moments from other avenues, is only a good thing.
