Community players invited to join Hurricanes journey ahead of club's return to Sandwell home

The region’s Rugby League team is inviting community amateur players to be part of its Championship season as it returns to its Sandwell base.

Community amateur Rugby League players from across the Midlands are being invited to become part of the crowd for the Midlands Hurricanes home return.

The region’s only professional Rugby League club has been looking to develop better relations with clubs in the community through an offer of free season tickets for all remaining home games.

The offer begins on June 6 with the Hurricanes home return to Avery Fields in Bearwood against Whitehaven and will remain in place for all home fixtures in the Championship season.

Managing director Eorl Crabtree said the offer was about building links in the community and bringing more people to games to see the club, which is having a strong season in its first Championship campaign.

He said: “We want to build stronger links with the rugby league community across the Midlands and make sure more players, families and clubs feel connected to the Hurricanes.”

“That’s why these community season tickets are important to us. We want to get more people through the gates, watching high quality rugby league and backing a team competing at the top end of the Championship.”

“The quality in the Championship is massively underrated and our lads have started the season brilliantly.

“We’ve got a good side playing good rugby, and we want more people across the Midlands to come and experience it.”

“This isn’t just about free tickets. It’s about growing the game in the Midlands and building stronger connections between the club and the community.”
