Nottingham Forest 1 Aston Villa 1 - Player ratings as defender shines
We rate the players after Villa’s 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest.
MARCO BIZOT
The first time Villa have failed to win in the Premier League after he was parachuted into the line-up. Assured in his handling and two big saves.
Unflappable: 7
MATTY CASH
Perhaps hasn’t enjoyed his best two matches over the past two games. A big disappointment here was his poor delivery from good positions.
Wayward: 5
VICTOR LINDELOF
The highest praise you can give Lindelof is he barely gets noticed. Has proven an excellent signing, slotting in seamlessly here.
Assured: 8
PAU TORRES
On the back foot a couple of times due to Forest’s physicality but he responded well. Another good performance to go with several of late.
Dogged: 7
LUCAS DIGNE
Got stuck in and had plenty of work to do thanks to the lively Aina. Involved in the build-up to the goal but his crossing disappointed.
Mixed: 6
AMADOU ONANA
Tested Sels with a shot early in the second half. Won the ball back well and used it decently too. Back on decent form.
Lively: 7
YOURI TIELEMANS
Looked good on the ball but was also guilty of losing possession in the second half, giving up a big chance. Some good work.
Steady: 6
JOHN MCGINN
A strong showing from the skipper, who was at the heart of much of Villa’s best work. Denied a goal by a fine Sels save.
Denied: 7
ROSS BARKLEY
Moved the ball really well in the build-up to the goal and a big chance for Watkins. Has rarely put in a bad performance when fit.
Bright: 7
MORGAN ROGERS
The good, the bad and the ugly. Clever work for the goal, some excellent passing and some poor. A really bad miss.
Erratic: 6
OLLIE WATKINS
Denied by Sels in the first half but should have given the keeper no chance late on. Some really good work in between.
Miss: 6
