Mat Sadler explains lack of Walsall subs in Bromley draw

Mat Sadler felt the game was "too tight" for him to use his bench during Walsall's 2-2 draw against Bromley at Hayes Lane on Thursday night.

Levi Amantchi cancelled out Ben Thompson's opener with an equaliser against his former club after replacing Ellis Harrison who was forced off with a hamstring issue.

Bromley retook the lead after the break through Harry McKirdy's exquisite lob but Jamille Matt salvaged a point with an equaliser 20 minutes from time.

Sadler opted against using his bench in the latter stages after making five changes to his starting XI as Walsall grinded out a point on the road to make it four away games without defeat.

He said: "I don't know what you thought within the game but it felt very tight.

"We were aware that we were going to have to defend set plays. It was a tight game and I was constantly trying to assess it.

"It could've went either way. The obvious one would've been to change Jamma like I've done in most games this season but I thought he was such a presence in both boxes.

"I didn't feel like I could do that tonight but in other games I will."

Sadler rung the changes from the 3-1 home defeat against Grimsby Town last Saturday and insists he trusts everyone within his squad.

"I do, I trust them all," he continued. "We recruited the squad so that we have the options to play our way with different players at different times.

"That was evident again tonight (on Thursday). Now Connor (Barrett) will miss a couple of games now (through suspension) so there are chances there and we'll decide what we do with that.

"We're aware that we've got a very good squad who give absolutely everything for each other."
