Leeds United 1 Aston Villa 2: Player ratings
We rate the players after Aston Villa fight back to win at Leeds.
EMI MARTINEZ
Made up for his early weakness with a big save at the end. Came to claim several crosses too in the crucial final stages.
Redeemed: 7
MATTY CASH
One of the few Villa players who matched the home side’s aggression in the first half. Had his hands full with Okafor.
Strong: 7
EZRI KONSA
Almost caught on the ball on a couple of occasions early on but got stronger as the game went on. Big block from Aaronson.
Block: 7
PAU TORRES
A couple of uncertain moments but he was typically in the right place at the right time. Just like the team, didn’t panic.
Cool: 7
LUCAS DIGNE
Struggled to make much headway down the flank in the first half and was brought off at the break as Emery looked for pace.
Quiet: 6
BOUBACAR KAMARA
Villa’s best player over the piece. Just the kind of game in which you most need him. Always seems to spot the danger first.
Excellent: 8
YOURI TIELEMANS
A rather heavy pitch was not the ideal game to make his return but he warmed to the task as the game wore on.
Mixed: 6
JOHN MCGINN
Some good moments from the skipper and some less good. Tried to mix it with the home side in the first half.
Battled: 6
MORGAN ROGERS
Was off-key in the first half but excellent in the second. Two superb but different finishes which were the difference in a scrappy game.
Goals: 7
EMI BUENDIA
Struggled to get into a very physical game. No shortage of effort but it never looked like being his day.
Struggle: 5
OLLIE WATKINS
Shot just wide late in the first half and then brought a save from Perri early in the second. Really, really needs a goal.
Confidence: 5
