"It’s completely untrue" - Wolves boss has say on reports of player refusing to play

Rob Edwards has insisted that Emmanuel Agbadou has not refused to train or play for Wolves as negotiations continue over a potential departure.

Wolves and Besiktas have been in dialogue over a move this month, after the Turkish side had two bids rejected, one for a loan and one for a permanent £12million deal.

Negotiations have continued and a deal could still be struck before the transfer window closes, but Edwards is adamant that Agbadou has not asked Wolves to leave or refused to train or play, as reports in Turkey claimed.

He also confirmed Agbadou will be in the squad to face Manchester City.

"It’s completely untrue," Edwards said when asked about those reports.

"From Agba's side, he's been absolutely brilliant. He's trained really well and he'll be travelling.

"He's been fully focused and trained really, really well."

If Agbadou does leave, the Express & Star understands Wolves are likely to focus on other areas for incomings, rather than bringing in a centre-back replacement.

Edwards did not go as far as saying that directly, but hinted at it when conceding he was happy with his defensive options.

"The lads that have been playing at the moment are really, really happy," Edwards said.

"They've been performing at a very, very high level.

"It's a team thing, but they're protecting Jose Sa in goal, very well, really well.

"If you look over a good chunk of games now, pretty consistently, we're very low in what we're giving away and they're a big part of that.

"There's been a consistency in their work, in whoever we've been able to pick.

"I'm delighted with what we've got and they're performing really, really well at the moment.

"Obviously, we've got Toti to come back in the coming weeks as well."
