The centre-back, who joined Wolves in the summer of 2023, has struggled to hold down a consistent place in the first team in the Premier League.

But recent strong performances have been rewarded with starts and his first goal for the club, as he put Wolves ahead at Spurs before their late equaliser.

Team-mate H.Bueno was delighted for his fellow defender, who he says has remained consistent behind the scenes waiting for his chance.

"I'm over the moon for Santi, he's such a great lad," H.Bueno said.

"He's one of the players that always keep the standards high in training and gives 100 per cent, it doesn't matter the situation.

"He showed that quality and the goal is like a gift for all his work, but apart from the goal I want to highlight his game.

"He was outstanding for us on and off the ball and hopefully he can keep giving us so much happiness."

Head coach Vitor Pereira was similarly pleased for S.Bueno and praised the Uruguayan's mental strength.

He added: "I like Bueno, not only speaking technically and tactically, but the mentality.

"I like players that can play home and away in the same way."

Meanwhile, Pereira has heaped more praise on 'animal' Marshall Munetsi for his tireless work.

The Zimbabwean has recently been utilised in a midfield three, which has allowed him to impact the game at both ends of the pitch.

Pereira, who is a big fan of Munetsi's athleticism and energy, says he is keen to fight alongside his player to get Wolves out of trouble.

"When we look at football, technique is one thing, but it's not only about that," Pereira said.

"Football is about tactical spirit, physicality, and Munetsi is an animal, running and running and running.

"If he plays for five minutes he gives us everything, if he plays 90 minutes or extra time, I know what I can expect from him.

"He is a very honest player that gives everything for the club and he's the kind of player that we need to support.

"I like to see good football, I enjoy football, but I also enjoy the spirit when they fight. I go to the fight with this kind of player.

"We went to the fight with fighters, with ambition, personality and just missing the last minute, but this is football."
