"I'm getting really fed up" - Rob Edwards' frustrated reaction to Wolves' latest loss
Rob Edwards admits he is 'fed up' of losing as Wolves fell to another defeat in their dreadful run.
Defeat at Liverpool made it seven since Edwards took over, 11 on the spin in the Premier League for the club and means Wolves have broken the record for a winless start to a Premier League season with 18 matches.
Despite being pleased with a much-improved second half, Edwards was frustrated at another loss for bottom-placed Wolves.
"It's another loss, so it's difficult," the head coach said.
"I said to the lads I'm getting really fed up of this and I know they're hurting as well. But then I know I'll watch the game back and maybe take some of the emotion out of it and feel some of the good things as well.
"The feeling in the second half, we need to try and harness that because what I saw was a team that was full of running, endeavour, brave, took risks and showed a lot of quality as well against a top team.
"We can take a lot from it but we're not taking any points."
When asked about what changed at half-time, Edwards added: "We adjusted a couple of things.
"Liverpool can force you back, obviously we all know that here at Anfield. I thought we started the game first 10-15 minutes, not too bad.
"The plan was fine, but then Liverpool began to force us back, they changed one or two bits, they got a lot of numbers high, so it was hard for us then to get out.
"Transition moments were difficult, we gave it away too many times and then weren't aggressive enough when we wanted to be in areas that we wanted to try and press.
"We adjusted Mateus Mane's position inside, I thought he was brilliant throughout the whole game, and went with two strikers. We wanted to be more aggressive in the second half and I thought that it did work for us.
"We found Mane a lot in between the lines, he was able to turn and drive, we were more aggressive with our pressing. So it was a good adjustment and it gave us a fresh impetus, we could be more aggressive on the outsides with the wing-backs jumping and then we said if we get the next goal, then it is game on and it was."
Mateus Mane was given his first start for the club and impressed at Anfield, as the 18-year-old was positive and forward-thinking in his approach.
"I thought he was excellent, he deserved that round of applause," Edwards said.
"I thought his energy was brilliant, his running was brilliant, but he was brave, he took the ball, he was a real shining light in what was obviously a difficult period for the club at the moment.
"He took risks, he had shots, he dribbled, he turned and played forward. But not only that, he showed real desire to run and fight as well.
"Everything that you would want in a young footballer, he showed that today."
