Stars to look out for at JCB Golf & Country Club in Staffordshire

Some of golf’s biggest stars will tee it up in Staffordshire today as LIV Golf UK returns to JCB Golf & Country Club.

There is uncertainty over the future of the Saudi-backed circuit, with the Public Investment Fund (PIF) set to end its funding commitment after this season. The fund has invested more than $5 billion into LIV Golf since its launch in 2022.

Unless fresh investment is secured, some of the sport’s biggest names could be making their final appearance at JCB Golf & Country Club.

That makes this week’s tournament one to savour for British golf fans, with thousands expected to descend on Staffordshire.

This is the third time LIV Golf UK has been staged at the immaculate par-72, 7,332-yard course, which once again provides the backdrop for the event.

The four-day tournament begins today with a shotgun start at 1.15pm.

Among the stars in action are Sergio Garcia, Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, Cameron Smith, Bubba Watson, Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood and Tyrrell Hatton.

DeChambeau is expected to attract huge galleries after arriving in Staffordshire fresh from controversy at The Open Championship, where he was handed a two-shot penalty during his second round.

The American tees off from the first hole at 1.26pm alongside home favourites Hatton and Westwood.

They follow the opening group on the first tee, featuring Lucas Herbert, who matched the course record with a brilliant 62 at The Open last week, former Masters champion Rahm and Ryder Cup hero Poulter.
