Wolves U21s crash out of Checkatrade Trophy
Wolves’ under-21s missed out on qualifying for the knockout stages of the Checkatrade Trophy.
A penalty shootout success over Lincoln City at Sincil Bank last night gave them two points to put them level on three with the Imps and second-placed Scunthorpe United.

But Lincoln’s superior goals scored record – by one – means that even if Scunthorpe lose to Mansfield Town next Tuesday, Wolves cannot move up into the top two.
Wolves had to twice fight back from a goal down to force a shootout against Lincoln, with all the goals coming in the first half.
Lincoln led midway through the first half when Matt Green fired beyond Will Norris. Substitute Oskar Buur had a hand in the leveller just six minutes after coming on when his shot was parried and Benny Ashley-Seal fired home the rebound.
Green had the hosts back in front three minutes before the interval with a cool finish, but Wolves were level again on the stroke of half-time when Ryan Giles drilled a rocket into the roof of the net from a tight angle.
And the shootout was sealed in sudden death, with Dominic Iorfa scoring and Tom Pett hitting the crossbar.
